Foundation — a swamplink research property
What this site is, what it is not, and how to read its numbers.
foundation.swamplink.com is an independent, personal research project run by George Howard. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any cosmetics brand, manufacturer, or retailer named or referenced on this site.
This site applies a statistical/research model — the same approach used by its sibling project, counting-chicken-wings — to cosmetics: ingredient comparisons, "is it really better" style analysis, estimated cost-to-make versus retail pricing, and sourcing/ethics claims. All figures are derived estimates based on publicly available information, not verified manufacturer data.
Nothing on this site is medical, dermatological, allergy, or product-safety advice. Ingredient comparisons here are informational and research-oriented only. If you have a skin condition, allergy, or health concern related to a cosmetic product, consult a licensed dermatologist or physician — do not rely on this site for that determination.
Any named brand, product, or ingredient discussed on this site is discussed for research and comparison purposes only. Mention of a brand — favorable, unfavorable, or neutral — is not an endorsement, condemnation, or statement of fact about that brand's practices, safety, or quality beyond what is explicitly sourced and cited. Brand and product names are the property of their respective owners.
Any "cost to make" or manufacturing-cost figures on this site are estimates derived from public data and modeling assumptions. They are not obtained from, verified by, or confirmed with the manufacturers in question, and may not reflect actual production costs, which manufacturers generally do not disclose publicly. Treat these figures as informed estimates, not facts about any specific company's finances.
This site, its underlying model, and any API/CLI access to it are provided "as is," without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.
